Make Petite Clothing Shopping Fun Again!…

Each one of us is unique and that’s what makes us special- but if you fall outside of what’s deemed ‘average’ then you can struggle when you’re buying clothes, and that can be frustrating. If you’re very thin, curvy, tall or short then buying from average clothing shops just might not work for you. In the case of being petite, here are some tips that can make buying clothes easier and bring back the fun in shopping for them!

Check the Kids Section

Of course, as an adult you want to look like an adult, this isn’t’ to suggest purchasing stuff that looks babyish! However if you check out the kids sections, particularly teens you might be surprised just how trendy the clothing is and how you can make it work with your style. As a bonus, its often cheaper too! Keep an eye out for basic essentials like t-shirts, jeans and trousers that will likely fit a lot better than smaller adults clothes.

Have Clothing Altered

If there are clothing pieces that you love but they just don’t fit you in the right way, consider having them altered. A skilled tailor can hem pants, adjust sleeve lengths, and take in waistlines, ensuring your clothes flatter your unique proportions. While it might add a bit to the overall cost, the confidence boost and polished look are well worth it.

Look For Specialist Stores

Some of the best places to shop when you’re petite are at stores that have been designed with you in mind. All of the clothing has been designed and made to fit on smaller frames making it easy to shop for what you want. You can even find petite shoe shops these days like Pretty Small Shoes, perfect if you need adult shoes in small sizes and widths.

Discover Your Petite Paradise

Not all stores are created equal, and some are more petite friendly than others. You might find that you can comfortably shop in some of the more popular clothing shops if they have a good petite section, so this is definitely something to check out.

Know Your Measurements

Understanding your exact measurements is crucial when you’re shopping for petite clothing. Take the time to measure your inseam, waist, hips, and bust accurately. Armed with this information, you can confidently shop online and make informed decisions about sizing. Keep a note of your measurements handy, especially if you plan on exploring new brands or making online purchases, as with all generic clothing sizes they will vary from brand to brand. So checking the actual measurements instead can help.

Play with Proportions

Petite fashion is not just about finding the smallest size available; it’s also about playing with proportions to create the illusion of height. If you go for high waisted bottoms to elongate your legs for example, choose cropped tops to avoid overwhelming your frame. Proportion is key when it comes to petite styling, so experiment with different silhouettes to find what works best for you.
