I’m not even gonna lie this lockdown is frustrating sometimes, but I understand that it is for the best. How are you guys coping with the lockdown? With the weird times we are in right now, how are you with buying clothes and other things? Do you feel bad or weird doing it? Personally it feels a bit weird, but at the same time it keeps me sane. At this point I know a lot of us miss putting outfits together to actually go some where. Hey, nevermind! I know it feels like the world is coming to an end, but it isn’t (at least not now) so life goes on indoors for now.
Question to the couples, do you do date nights (dressing up and all) with your partners during this lockdown?
During this quarantine, most of us have sorted out our closet and this has revealed some clothing that we forgot about. In my case, African print clothing. If for anything I’m shocked they still fit. For the past few years we’ve seen a vast growth in the African print clothing market and it doesn’t seem to slow down anytime soon. It was about time because this is one little way for others to enjoy the rich culture of Africa. Seeing all the prints inspired me to put this ootd together. Below are five places worth checking for African print pieces.
AFRIKREA is one of the largest sites to shop for beautiful pieces. With over 30.000 styles from different designers, something will catch your eyes. From fashion to jewelry, beauty, home and art, get your click on.
Created by twin sisters, GRASS–FIELDS sells high quality African inspired fashion. Personally I haven’t shopped from this brand before, but I must say I like the modern take of their designs.
According to LAVIYE their aim is renew a sense of pride in our African culture by creating a channel for young women to find confidence in expressing who they are. The brand loves merging the traditional African fabrics with Western silhouettes to create the ‘African Meets Western’ look.
The other two places to check out rich pieces are ETSY and D’IYANU.
What’s your thought on this look? Do you owe any African print clothing?
Thanks much for your visits and meaningful comments. Have a nice weekend.
As always, I would love to connect with everyone on INSTAGRAM and TWITTER.
Much Love!
Missy May

Thanks much, Anika! Good to hear that. 🙂
Yes it is crazy these times. I don’t have a job, all my freelance work dried up, one place is not even paying me for work I did the month before quarantine. I live with high risk people, my step brother in Paris has the virus. Things are not great that is for sure.
But yes I have seen a rise in African inspired prints/fashion, quite a bit actually, both at local designers in NY and at FW. This top is GREAT, I love it. And thanks for the heads p on the brands!

Love this blouse, and your entire outfit. You look so beautiful, my friend! I can relate to being frustrated with the quarantine. It’s just such a difficult time. It’s scary to go out, but yet I miss doing the things I did before this all happened. Even grocery store trips are a little stressful now. But we will get through this together! 🙂

Times really are strange, and I am definitely doing things to retain some sense of routine or normality – that certainly includes putting outfits together! It calms me for some reason? As does having a good old fashioned clear out, which is also ideal for rediscovering forgotten gems. This outfit looks amazing on you, and the colours in that print are so beautiful – thanks for sharing these brands 🙂

I adore the colors and fun print on your top, my beautiful Mavis! It’s also nice to see shoutouts being given to businesses especially now during this pandemic. It will be over in time…seems things are slowly getting back to “normal” here in the US. I’ve been doing ok. I’m a homebody, so the lockdown hasn’t really affected me too much. Stay healthy and well, my friend!
