Feels like just yesterday we said, “happy new year”. When a new year starts, the first couple of months are like trials for some of us. Ha!! You don’t really feel any difference until it hits you in the third or fourth month into the year. I thought I share three goals in my life that I’m working/progressing right now.
*** FITNESS ***
Living a healthy lifestyle has been a consistent journey since last year, but I would be lying if I say I always get it right. There are days that I can’t be bothered to eat healthy. If you’re a foodie like myself then you know the struggle of making the right choices when it comes to diet. Even days when I make a conscious decision to eat healthy, I fail miserably. Having said that, I don’t beat myself about it. I lift myself up and get it together. If yesterday was a big fail, I make sure I get it healthy and right the day after. Well it seems I did something right, because yesterday I got a great news when I went to the hospital for my routine check-up. I have dropped weight from 85kg to 79kg and I couldn’t be more proud.
*** DRIVE ***
If you’re a friend to this blog, then you know that learning how to drive has been a mission since forever. Lol!! I tell myself every year that I will learn and end up not doing it. It is not like I’m comfortable with taking public transport. Please don’t get me wrong, -there’s nothing wrong with using public transport. It is the annoying delays that pisses me off. The last thing you want to be doing on an early winter morning is wait on longggg for a bus. It breaks your spirit. Lol! So back on the matter, I took some lessons last year, but couldn’t complete it because I quitted my job. A single mother gotta prioritize. Ha!! By the grace of God I’m back to it. I’ve affirmed that this is the year of bringing this goal to fruition. Instead of manual, I’ve decided to switch to automatic which is less hustle. I can’t be bothered with manual to be honest. Wish me luck.
*** MINDSET ***
Lets be honest, it is hard to stay positive all the damn time! Life has a way of knocking you sideways and making one lose hope/confidence sometimes. Someone I listen to a lot is Joyce Meyer. Back in the days almost every sermon I heard from her had something about attitude. While I loved the messages, I never really understood why she always poked that word ‘attitude’. Well I get it now. Hans Selye framed it better when he said,
“Adopting the right attitude can convert a negative stress into a positive one.”
We were not promised a smooth life, but in everything if we’ve the right attitude, we will be stress-free and be victors. This is where I am now. Going through everything and anything with the grace of God and a good attitude.
Are you making any progress in your goals? Do share!
On my #outfitoftheday, this is a casual chic look I wore to run an errand with my son. I got the leather jacket and bag from a collaboration I did with The Broadway Bradford two years ago. The jacket is definitely a piece that I’ll be cherishing for a long time. Both ensemble are from river island and the quality is impeccable.
Thanks much for your visits and meaningful comments. Wishing you a lovely weekend.
As always, I would love to connect with everyone on INSTAGRAM and TWITTER.
Much Love!

Developing a healthy mindset is undoubtedly the most difficult of the challenges; it’s something I’m always trying to improve and work on too! Good luck with learning to drive by the way! 🙂

Good to hear that you’re making progress too Kathrin. Thank you 🙂
I try very hard to keep a somewhat positive attitude, but some days are harder than others. My word for the year was spontaneous which is very unlike me. And we are thinking about moving….that’s spontaneous…LOL

Hope you can join the fit gang soon girl. Thank you!
Oh I love this head to toe black look balanced out with the color and texture in the bag.
And staying positive is VERY hard. Yesterday myself and two neighbors (sisters) went out for pedicures and our conversation was pretty grim and the dark future that we saw. I kept wondering what the people around us must have thought. But the economy despite what the media says and who are wrong about everything is not going well. Ageism is a huge problem here as is automation. The one sister who is 51 is working part-time, makes %30 below poverty level and only has gone on one job interview in a year and this is someone with 20 years experience…
Bearnie Sanders once said that in America people fear old age more then they fear death and he is right. It is hard to stay positive when you live in a country that is so angry, negative, and with a fight or die mentality.

Good to hear that Allie. Thanks much! 🙂
Oh wow what a conversation. It is rather unfortunate isn’t it? And yeah with stories like this, I can definitely understand why it is hard to
stay positive sometimes. We can only pray and hope for the best.

Girl, you are glowing (your skin is gorgeous!). I love the part about the attitude; the quote is so spot on and I think that, while it is hard, knowing how to control and navigate your thoughts at times can be so beneficial! Hope you’re well xx

These are wonderful personal goals, my beautiful Mavis. Healthy body, healthy mind, and you’re gonna learn to drive! Though, I don’t blame you for putting off the driving. Every time I’m in London, I never know which way to look from all the crazy English drivers! Ha! Just kidding! I highly recommend automatic too. I could never get used to a stick shift. You look absolutely stunning in these shots. Love your coat! Love your handbag! Love your sneakers. A fabulously effortless and chic look which is your signature style!
