Admittedly, dressing up in Winter can be a bit daunting sometimes. The cold weather has a way of putting one off dressing up creatively. The excitement to dress up just isn’t there which compels one to opt for the usual dark colours and denims. I had to snap myself out of this stage real quick as I was getting comfortable being comfortable. Ha!! Does that make sense?
For the longest time, I haven’t been a fan of culottes. I didn’t see the point of the ‘halfness’ of it. Like a dog chewed part of it and decided lemme leave the rest for someone to wear. Lol!! With that in mind, it made it hard to figure out how to style it. When the universe knows that you dislike something, it decides to flaunt it more in your face, -because I kept seeing more and more people styling this. Gradually my opinion changed and here we are. On Sunday I got creative and put this outfit together for church. Clearly y’all can see that I wasn’t in the mood to iron. Ha! Depending on how cold it is, styling culottes during winter is easy.
Balance the flowy down with layering and pairing it with the knitwears, tailored blazers and statement coats up top. On days where the cold is unbearable, wear tights underneath and opt for boots. Culottes can also be dressed down with sneakers or any shoe of your choice. Style it to your liking and comfort.
I must say shooting this #ootd was hilarious! The cold was actually bearable, but it was super windy, both my son and I were literally being blown away. My son was trying his best to take the shots, but I was busy protecting my hat from being blown away and the culottes from falling off my waist. We gave up five minutes into the shoot so I’m surprised these shots came out alright. Having said that, it felt good to know that I’ve lost weight.*FIND similar culottes HERE | HERE | HERE | HERE*
