As a person who also happens to be a christian, I try my best to do what is right (or better), but of course sometimes, it doesn’t always go accordingly. In my thirty three years of life I’ve gone through hurt/pain and I’ve also made some bad choices/decisions that I’ll probably regret for the rest of my life. One bad character about me is that I overthink, -especially when I do something wrong. My thinking is rooted in self condemnation and guilt. It’s so bad that I’ll not go to church because I feel like I’ve disqualified myself from God’s grace, presence and children. Generally, as human beings, the struggle with temptation and doing what is right can be a battle sometimes. Sometimes you know what’s right to do, but you end up not doing it or doing the opposite. Paul said it best in Romans 7:21; “(So I find it to be the law of life), -when I want to do what is right, I end up doing what’s wrong.” You don’t even have to be a christian to relate to this. It’s just a human thing. I believe as people, sometimes we set high standards for ourselves and when we end up not measuring up to that, we crumble. This is where if you’re not careful the battlefield of the mind sets in and your mental state goes downhill. Depression, anxiety, self-doubt; -you name it, they all begin to surface. When all is said and done, the plan is not to give up on one’s self. Without temptations, trials and lessons in life, we can’t grow and thrive.
So how can you do better as a person?
Today I’ve collaborated with dbe_uk which is a graphic t-shirt brand. The brand’s vision is to inspire people to do better. A lifestyle of doing better in all areas. Even when we fall, we can get back up and keep going each day. DBE hopes to update the line with more christian and encouraging quotes. I love the quality of the t-shirt, -very thick and it has a little stretch to it which is always great. Lets support our small businesses. For your own shirt, please place an order HERE.
Below are two important ways we can do better every day.
- Investing in your health: Sicknesses are part of life, but how our body responds and heals is where we’ve control over. When the parts of the body are in great healthy shape and God is in control, the body has a better chance. How we eat, deal with stress, sleep and other lifestyle choices all ties in this aspect.
- The positive mindset: This is probably the most important place to focus on. 2018 has been full of shooting tragedies in America which is very heartbreaking. There’re wars going on in people’s minds and when it is not taken care of, travels down to the heart and of course the end result is never good. I can tell you this because I’ve dealt with dark mind of my own. When the bible says, “we wrestle not against flesh and blood”, I really believe this. There is a spiritual battle. I don’t want to freak anybody out. All I’m saying is that, feed your mind with positive food. Make no room for negative shit. I recommend reading Joyce Meyer’s books. Her books are filled with so much positivity and she touches on the battlefield of the mind a lot.
