One of my goals this year is to travel around the UK and I thank God that I’ve visited about three cities so far. Hope to make it five by the end of this year (God willing). When a sister came up with a National Holidays Newcastle city break offer, I agreed. The offer comprised of the coach journey and hotel (dinner/breakfast inclusive). It was a great offer. This was my first time using National Holidays and I must say, it was an interesting experience. On arrival in Newcastle the coach parked and the driver announced that we’ve about three hours to explore the city. After that we were taken to the hotel that was booked for the travellers. I was very impressed with the choice of hotel and the services rendered. I couldn’t complain!
The only negative side was, we thought the trip was for two days (two nights) as it stated on the website, but according to the driver, two days means two days but one night. We were horrified when we were about to go sightseeing the next morning and saw all the other passengers with their suitcases boarding the coach. Confused, I asked and was told that we were heading back. Wtf!! We became a laughing stock as we had to rush back to our hotel rooms to pack and join the coach. It didn’t help that we were the only blacks there so it was twice awkward. Lol!! I felt so embarrassed, but I had to laugh it off.
In a nutshell I enjoyed the journey, but wished it was two days as stated. I hope the company will be more precise about it on their website as this will confuse first time travellers. The driver was very welcoming which prompted all the passengers to make a contribution in a bag for him. It was very kind of us the passengers if I may say so. Ha!! For short city breaks in the UK and around Europe, I think it’s not a bad idea at all. That is if you don’t mind sitting in coaches for long hours (depends which city you’re visiting). One positive thing is that you don’t have to bother about searching for hotels. It is all included in the price so they’ll take care of that. I’ll share more photos and the places we visited whiles there.
Have you travelled with National Holidays before? What do you think of my city break outfit?
