WINTER LAYERING: KEEPING IT CLASSIC IN THE COLD…

Happy February Beauties!

How was your January?

Thank God I’m still here but, I’ve to say that my January has been a roller coaster of hospitals. I pictured entering 2018 on full gas but, somehow I’ve been ill twice, picked up by ambulance and ended up in hospital. One of the incident was caused by food poisoning. This experience (or should I say incident) has definitely shook me up. Henceforth I am watching what goes in my mouth and whom/where I eat at. -Not that I wasn’t before but, I am going to be extra careful now.

Lets talk about keeping it classic in the cold.

Winter in the UK this season is on another level. The cold is no joke at all and as if that isn’t enough, it rains constantly. Don’t let no sunshine fool you in the UK during winter. Its only out to gossip! The weather basically makes dressing up so frustrating. Of course layering is the answer to keeping the behind warm. Having said that, one has to find the balance in layering. You don’t want to be layered to the extent of toasting yourself. Some of the things I do are;

  • Undergarment is your best friend: Be it a shapewear, leggings, camisole, vest or slip, these garments help tremendously. If the cold is unbearable, I take it up a notch by wearing lightweight shirts or turtlenecks underneath my outfits. I wear these under tops and dresses.
  • Chunky isn’t bad: I find chunky sweaters very sexy. There’s something about em that screams edgy and chic. -And that’s why I invest in a couple almost every winter. They’re winter perfection in my opinion. The chunky’ness can sometimes mean you only have to wear a blazer or a stylish gilet on top which balances everything nicely. I’ve already touched on the subject of investing in great coats here so lets move on.

So I wore this outfit to church. Black, white and red are colours that I believe make threesome look so damn classy. They blend well together. The striped tailored pant is from Primark (got that seven years ago) and how freakin awesome that it still fits me. Ha!! I love the size of the chunky sweater. Great balance with the pants. While this was worn to church, I love how it has boss lady written all over it. This can easily be an office look as well. Belt your coats and chunky ensemble to add class to your winter outfits. Don’t forget to accessorize but, keep it on the minimum. You don’t want to look like you’re trying too hard. Don’t be scared to play with proportions too. Works wonders!

New Look has similar pants and TopShop has some mean sweaters at the moment.

Hope your week is going on well.

Keep Warm! Wishing you a blessed February full of laughter and good health.

Much Love!

    Oh Mavis, I had no idea you started 2018 in hospitals. Food poisoning is the worst! This is why I prefer to eat at home most times, but sometimes you just wanna go out. So, like you said, you have to be more careful of what you’re eating and where. I’m glad you’re well again. This first look for February is classic effortless styling! You look so amazing and so flawless! I love the vertical stripe pants, it makes your legs look even longer. The sweater is perfect. I don’t mind bulk in the wintertime. 😉 What makes this outfit perfect is the pop of red! I love how it pulls the whole outfit together so nicely! Hope you’re having a good week, my friend! 🙂

    sorry to hear about the food poising, I had it once (the fault was with an ice cream I think, I bought it from a stand during Summer… since then I only eat factory produced ice-cream or home made)…Sadly, these days we really have to be careful not only with where we eat but also what we buy. There is so much bad food out there…..

    …but moving on to brighter topics, you do look amazing it this elegant yet cozy styling. There is always something effortlessly stylish about a black and white outfit. Those striped pants are fabulous, and that chunky sweater looks very warm….the heels are the perfect way to finish this styling.
